Attorney General’s office acts on email scandal

The Pennsylvania Attorney General’s office has announced that they’ve taken action on the email scandal that was discovered when reviewing the handling of the Jerry Sandusky abuse case.  The AG’s office has said, in total, they’ve disciplined 61 employees. Six have been fired, two resigned before any disciplinary action was taken, and 11 have been suspended without pay. Of those disciplined, Wednesday's report stated six have been terminated; two resigned in advance of receiving discipline; and 11 have been suspended without pay with the ability to return. The remaining individuals received either a “written reprimand, required to take sexual harassment counseling, or both.” Suspensions lasted from three to ten days in length and those suspended will be allowed to return to work.  Factors considered in deciding disciplinary action included: “the volume of emails sent and received, the content of the messages, when they were sent and the position the employee held in the office.” The AG’s office has also installed new computer monitoring equipment to track computer usage.

The House and Senate reconvened on Wednesday to vote on new leaders for the 2015-16 Legislative Session. Below are the results of those elections.  Our friends at the Pennsylvania Business Council have put together their post-election guide to new legislators that can be found here.
