Cutbacks to Food Stamp Program Begin Today

Approximately 1.8 million Pennsylvanians who currently receive federal food stamp benefits will see and approximate 5% reduction in those benefits starting today.  The decrease is due to the expiration of a portion of the federal stimulus package of 2009.  Local food banks prepare for an expected increase in demand for their service.  

Corbett Set to Announce Re-Election Effort

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports today that Governor Corbett will be in Pittsburgh next week to kick off his re-election campaign.  The Governor is weighed down by low approval ratings and he faces a large field of Democratic candidates vying for his job.
