PA #2 in Gambling Revenue
According to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, the state Gaming Control Board released figures showing Pennsylvania as the second-biggest gambling state in 2011, beating out New Jersey. The 10 casinos in PA made a gross revenue of $3.02 billion while New Jersey reported a revenue if $2.95 billion. Experts say the surge in PA gambling is due to the recent addition of table games. The largest gambling state is Nevada with approximately $10 billion in revenue annually.
Corbett to Sign Well Site Emergency Response Bill
As reported by PennLive, Governor Corbett is expected to sign legislation that would create an emergency response plan and provide a list of GPS coordinates for every Marcellus Shale well site in the state. The bill passed the House last month and passed the Senate unanimously this week. The legislation requires state regulators to write emergency regulations while the well operators have to provide location coordinates and other information about their site. Sen. Lisa Baker, sponsor of the bill, says it will provide critical information to emergency responders and "reduce risks to people, property and the environment."
