Gov's Transit Plan Revealed Next Month

The Pittsburgh Post Gazette reports that Gov. Corbett is planning to unveil his transportation funding plan before or during his February 7 budget address. The Transportation Funding Advisory Commission recommended a plan to raise $2.5 billion but it is uncertain if the Governor will support the plan in its entirety. In a hearing before the House, Transportation Secretary Barry Schoch said the Governor "recognizes the need to make investment in transportation" but at the same time, he recognizes that "the economy's very fragile now."

Sen. Rafferty Exits Campaign for AG

PA Senator John Rafferty (R- Montgomery) has announced that he dropped out of the race for state attorney general. His announcement came right after Governor Corbett endorsed Cumberland County District Attorney David Freed. Currently Freed is the only Republican candidate and is likely to get the state committee's endorsement. According to the Patriot News, a spokesman for Corbett said he wants to endorse a candidate that is a career prosecutor.
