Redistricting Map Approved by Senate
On late Wednesday night the state Senate voted to approve the Republican redistricting plan by a 26-24 vote (Republicans voting no were Brubaker, Earll, Folmer and Vance). The bill is now in the House and will most likely be considered next week, where it is expected to be approved and sent to the Governor. Democrats have strongly criticized the plan and in response have offered their own map but it is highly unlikely to get consideration with Republican control across the board.
The Senate has adjourned until January.
House Unable to Agree on School Choice
Also this week, House leadership was unable to get the votes to pass the school voucher bill - legislation Governor Corbett wanted to have done by the end of the year. According to the Patriot News, this could push back the vote until after next year's legislative election.
