School Choice Bill Moves To House

On Wednesday, the PA Senate passed a school choice bill with a vote of 27-22 and sent it to the House for consideration. The bill would create a public school voucher program for students from low-income families, institute standards for charter schools and enlarge scholarships for some students to attend nonpublic schools. A voucher program is a top legislative item for Gov. Corbett.

Casey Urges FEMA To Hurry Flood Assist

According to the Associated Press, U.S. Senator Bob Casey urged the federal government to speed up aid to Pennsylvanians in need of flood damage relief. The Senator asked the FEMA to focus recovery aid to PA over other state that don't have the same harsh winter weather. In the letter to FEMA he also listed areas in the state that need immediate help such as an electric substation in Middletown and municipal roads in Montgomery County, just to name two.
