Education Committee Hears Ways To Help Higher Ed
This week the Senate Education Committee heard testimony on 6 bills that would help sustain some funding for higher education that was lost through recent budget cuts. The bills would help schools offer more doctorate programs, broaden rules on university employees assisting with fundraisers, and help streamline cooperation between the schools and their foundations. Also, one of the bills calls for all bids over $25,000 for projects at state universities to be publically advertised.
A new website has been launched by the state to help the public stay in tuned with the redistricting process. The website, http://www.redistricting.state.pa.us/, summarized hearings and testimony heard by the committee as they decide how to draw new district lines according to the most recent population numbers.
