Gov.'s Approval Rating Up Since April

Yesterday Quinnipiac University released a poll regarding Governor Tom Corbett's approval rating. Of the 1,370 voters asked between September 20 and 26, 50% approve of the work Corbett is doing in office. This is substantially higher than the approval in April - right after he gave his budget address - which was at 39%. The poll also found that voters like the idea of taxing natural gas extraction and privatizing liquor stores.

 

Tax Revenues Up In PA

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, the state may be starting to crawl out of its recession according to the recent tax revenue numbers. Tax collections have been up 6.2% since June 30 and July and August collection amounts have been 5.9% above last year's numbers. Corporate tax collection rose 36% since last year and personal income collection was up 9.7%.
