Senate Pushed To Replenish FEMA Funds

Yesterday the U.S. Senate approved legislation that would give FEMA $7 billion to continue their disaster relief throughout the country. Currently the funding is nearly gone.  The legislation also would immediately release $500 million to continue helping Hurricane Irene and Lee victims, which includes PA residents.

The House now needs to approve the legislation.


Orie Asks To Bar Retrial

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune Review state Senator Jane Orie has asked the Supreme Court to bar her retrial on charges that she used state-paid employees for campaign work. Previously her trial was declared a mistrial due to forgery of evidence. She was already denied double jeopardy. The retrial is scheduled for October.
