Possible Avenue for More Transportation Funding

U.S. Senators Pat Toomey and Bob Casey have signed on to co-sponsor federal legislation that would make changes to a law allowing PA to use toll credits to match federal funds for certain highway projects. These projects include expanding two roads: U.S. route 219 from Maryland to the PA Turnpike and an expressway from I-80 from Union County to Dauphin County. This law change would fully fund the projects without increasing the federal highway budget. It is not yet known if and when the bill will successfully move through the Senate.
