State House To Vote On Monday
The House will reconvene on Monday, November 15, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in regular voting Session.
After the election on November 2, Speaker Keith McCall announced that voting session will be cancelled for the weeks of November 15 and 22. But early this week Speaker McCall reconsidered after talking with members who demanded a vote on issues such as pension reform. They plan to discuss legislation that was sent to them from the Senate back in October.
Corbett Transition Team Announced
On Wednesday, Governor-elect Tom Corbett held a press conference at the Capitol to announce the members of his transition team, who will work over the next several months to shape the new administration as it comes into office in January.
Christine Toretti, Jack Barbour and Bill Sasso are co-chairs of the team. Leslie Gromis-Baker and Tom Paese will be co-directors, carrying out everyday operations. Charles Kopp has been named legal counsel, while Brian Nutt will serve as transition chief of staff and Kevin Harley will be transition spokesman.
Additionally, Bob Asher and Laura Ellsworth were named co-chairs of the Corbett/Cawley inauguration committee. The inauguration is set for January 18.
Also at the press conference, Corbett said his top priority as the new governor is to create a balanced budget and reduce the state's approximate $4 billion deficit.
